Nash Lighter
Never step on the toes of a Lighter.
The Lighter Legacy
Jonathan Lighter, the patriarch of the family, was a military man. Upon his retiring from the service, he retired to the Napa region of California moving the family from Los Angeles. Jonathan's idea of retirement was buying a vinyard, and throwing himself into growing grapes, an endeavor he knew nothing about until after he 'bought the farm' so to speak.
The family, which at that time of comprised himself, his wife then Karina, her son Niros, whom Jonathan adopted, and sons Trevor and Nash, settled into a home on one thousand acres of prime vinyard. What Jonathan didn't know, he started learning, and relied on the expertise of fourth generation vintner Raphael Mascone to take up the slack between knowledge and pure drive.
Raphael became a member of the family and stayed with the Lighters until his death in 2005, by which time he'd imparted to Jonathan and his sons, whom now numbered five with the addition of twins Ian and Tavis (from Jonathan's remarriage to Nia and), his years of experience and wisdom.
The Lighter boys, and their sister, Alyssandra, grew up with wine, and were taught the business, from vine to cork. They didn't, however, all follow the family business. Jonathan encouraged all of his children to follow their own course, no matter what it was.
Niros, or NJ as the family calls him, went into the service in his father's footsteps before settling once more in Napa to take up the family business with his father.
Trevor held a series of jobs, never finding anything that sparked a great deal of interest. In between those jobs he would often find himself back in Napa, working for the family.
Nash worked the family business alongside his father and siblings, but cars and the ocean were and still are his first loves. For a time, he lived in Georgia and owns an auto shop there, which is now for sale. Circumstances had him moving to Miami, where he spends his time turning wrenches when he isn't in the water or driving.
Alyssandra worked at the winery until joining her brother Nash in Georgia in order to handle the accounting for his business.
The twins, Ian and Tavis, still work the land alongside their father, his current wife Circe, and brother NJ, though occasionally visiting their siblings outside of California and lending a hand when needed.
No matter where the Lighters are, or how they're separated by time and distance, if one is in need, the others will come running.
